About the Guide
This 11 page .PDF is filled with colour illustrations, a town map, and written completely in character. Its author stumbles through comedic misadventures while he shares an overview of the settlement, the surrounding orc clans, and landscape.
In it you will discover forgotten ruins, a vicious “god”, as well as the bones of a titan…
Home to the leaders of the Skulltaker orcs, Arganorth’s Hold is built into caves and fortified with a palisade. Two large animal skulls sit atop the gates pillars, leering down at you with malice. Inside the holds walls lie many barrels, presumably stock taken from recent raids, as well as two tents by the fireplace. A shrine sits atop a stone pedestal surrounded by bones, crowned by a strange spell book and a fetish…
Two paths lead into separate parts of a shallow cave. The first room contains a large skull flanked by two fire pits and more piles of bones. Yet the other path leads through a small room into a larger sleeping and eating area.
Standing high above jagged cliffs, wind whistles loudly through murder holes; sending the torches within flickering.
It is a dour, and cold place—with furniture made from rough wood, and the only store of drinkable water coming from within brackish barrels. The main tower houses the room of their leader, with a pike-decorated throne, and dried blood caked in terrible patterns upon the floor, at its feet…
Deep within a dense swamp lies the resting place of a titan. You can hear the trickling of nearby water and frogs croaking in the distance as a faint breeze brings the scent of death and damp earth.
Nature long ago enveloped this dead being in an eternal embrace. The bones of it’s gigantic legs have fallen across a small slow flowing stream acting as bridges, while it’s ribs jut from the earth leading up to it’s massive hollowed skull. Small bones cover the ground, clearly the remains of prey fallen to whatever calls this place home…
An otherwise beautiful lagoon is tainted by the blood of fallen travellers and creatures both. The mouth of this hydra’s lair is littered with the bones of its victims. What has happened to them, you’ll discover when you read the Black Steppes Adventurer’s Guide.
Yes! They work with any VTT site or system that allows the upload of .JPEGs. We personally recommend buying Foundry VTT as one of the best applications.
Each battlemap is downloaded as a few different file types. This includes a 72dpi .JPEG file for VTTs, a 300dpi .JPEG for poster printing (such as A1 or A0), and a .PDF document for home printing. The latter document has a few extra pages at the front with printing instructions, to make the process extra-easy.
Each included map in the Black Steppes Adventurer’s Guide battlemap bundle has two files that are gridded and suited for printing, but the additional VTT maps are not gridded (this is because online apps will add their own grid).
