Download this Trackless Fens Adventurer’s Guide TTRPG Battlemap Bundle and uncover parasitic, eel-like deities who have survived in ancient prisons, sealed away since the fall of their civilization. Take your players to this ruin-filled swamp and spend at least four sessions finding out what’s behind the Trackless Fen’s obfuscated history, using the included twist-filled adventures and battlemaps.
Inhabited by hostile creatures and cunning villagers who have lived there for countless years, the Trackless Fens was considered unremarkable by the first explorers to discover this dangerous land. It was only when sailors dived into the waters to cool off that they discovered a vast ancient city lying in ruins beneath the waves.
As word spread, more and more people made the journey to the Trackless Fens, to investigate these ruins and learn more about them. Some came for knowledge, others for forgotten treasures, and all found what they sought.
It is thought the city was the capital of a vast empire that stretched across the land, only to fall as the marshland, overburdened with stone buildings and a growing population, began to sink. Combined with a rise in sea levels, the empire was all but doomed to a watery grave.
A settlement was founded, drawing in archaeologists and explorers from near and far to examine the finds recovered from beneath the sea. The settlement of the Trackless Fens is a ramshackle place, built from planks of wood, much of which was recovered from shipwrecks off the coast from those who ventured to this place but did not return, their adventure cut short by the jagged rocks and shallow reefs beneath the surface…
The natives of the area frowned upon this intervention into what they considered the graves of their ancestors, and the two groups keep a wary distance from each other. Still, expeditions further inland have revealed similar ruins to those found off the coast, depicting some kind of eel-like deities worshiped by the ancient peoples. It is thought these deities lifted the primitives from their simple lives with the enlightenment of civilization.
What is not spoken of openly by explorers or academics alike, is the recovered knowledge reads more like propaganda than an accurate recording of history, suggesting that the rulers of the empire were far from the benevolent masters many of the ruins indicate. It is clear however, that the empire was torn apart by civil war, even as the city was slowly disappearing into the sea.
Regardless, the Trackless Fens are a trove of ancient knowledge, with relics being recovered on almost a daily basis. Scholars, sailors, frontiersmen and the natives all strive to further their own ends, making it an ideal place for clever adventurers to make their mark, and earn a tidy sum of gold for their efforts.
Will your players piece together the obfuscated history, and stop the return of parasitic “gods” before it’s too late? Or will they believe what was written about those who came before, and work to bring back the civilization’s past glory?
Download this Trackless Fens Adventurer’s Guide TTRPG battlemap bundle today for 4+ twist-filled sessions discovering secret plots, and watch your players struggle to piece together the long-forgotten history of a potentially dangerous ancient civilization.
